The official currency of Taiwan is called the New Taiwan Dollar, with international currency code TWD and its abbreviation is NT$. Banknotes are issued in NT$100, NT$ 200, NT$500, NT$1000, and NT$2000. Coins come in denominations of NT$50, NT$10, NT$5, and NT$1.
